It's A Jungle in Key Stage One
We are really lucky to have a freelance artist working in our school on a Thursday.
Lynda Nelson an artist and book illustrator came into school a few weeks ago to talk to Key Stage One about brightening up their building. We looked at lots of different photos and themes and eventually decided on a jungle.
Over the next few weeks Lynda will be working in our school. We will try and update the website regularly so you can see how it progresses.
Check out our artists websitehttp://www.lynda-nelson.co.uk/

Year 5 - D&T Making Biscuits

Year 5 children have been enjoying planning, designing and making their own biscuits. They first investigated various biscuits recipes and then deigned their own biscuits. Once happy with their design they set about turning their ideas into reality. Also as part of the process they had to design and create their own packaging. As you can see from the pictures they all found this experience enjoyable and tasty.

Fireworks!
In Foundation Stage we have been learning about why we celebrate Bonfire Night and what Fireworks represent! It is from an event long ago.
Most of us saw some fireworks this year. In class, we made pretty pictures using soft pastels and black sugar paper.
Whizz! Bang! Pop! Screech! Zoom! Whee! Spin! Explode!

Foundation Stage
In a dark dark town there was a dark dark house. In the dark dark house there was a dark dark cellar. In the dark dark cellar some skeletons lived. . .
We have been doing lots of activities based on the story 'Funny Bones' by Janet and Alan Albergh. In our gluing area we fastened bones together to make some scary skeletons!
We painted the big skeleton in our art area and in ICT we made pictures on 'Fresco' of the characters. In the Reception classroom we are making a big 'Funny Bones' display. Come and have a look! If you dare to, you could come inside our 'Dark dark cellar' too! Don't be scared!

Magic Sandwiches
In Year 2 we have been making jam and banana sandwiches for our magic dragon Denzel's party.
We really enjoyed making them. After that we wrote instructions for making a sandwich. We made sure that we included bossy verbs and gave plenty of detail about how we made our sandwich. We also included bullet points, list of equipment and ingredients and numbered steps.
Photos to follow soon.

Pins and Needles
Two weeks ago year four made finger puppets with Miss Minnican and Miss Strangwood in the year four classroom. They made allsorts of brilliant finger puppets.
Firstly Miss Minnican showed us some examples that we could make. Year four made different kind of finger puppets like cats, dogs, book characters, ladybirds, birds and lions.
They had to sew two pieces of felt shaped as a finger puppet together. Then they glued googly eyes, pom poms and pipe cleaners on. After that they put them on the art table to dry and then Miss Minnican and Miss Strangwood put them up on display in the corner of the classroom.
They really enjoyed it and are looking forward to doing other things.

The Visit to Shipley Art Gallery
When we arrived at the Shipley Art Gallery. We hung our coats up and then the lady led us to some shoes. There were all diffrent shapes and sizes. This other lady took us to this room so that we could design our own shoes .We started by getting a stencil of our foot size the when we got our foot size. We drew around it on cardboard twice and then drew it on thin layers of sponge. We then made it like a sandwich with a piece of cardboad on the bottom and one piece of thin sponge in the middle and another piece of cardboad on top. Then after that we cut out the heel and then we started to stick it together and finally we put our designs on.
