The new building http://www.gatesheadgrid.org/romanroad/archives/2006/06/the_new_buildin.html Roman Road is soon to have a new classroom.
It is going to be a year 2 classroom. So far it has all the walls built and all the widows. When they started it was just a pach of grass. They started by putting the foundations down. They are now putting the floor down and building the pillars so the roof doesn't cave in. There is also a car park behind it for the teachers.

The Visit to Shipley Art Gallery http://www.gatesheadgrid.org/romanroad/archives/2006/06/the_visit_to_sh.html When we arrived at the Shipley Art Gallery. We hung our coats up and then the lady led us to some shoes. There were all diffrent shapes and sizes. This other lady took us to this room so that we could design our own shoes .We started by getting a stencil of our foot size the when we got our foot size. We drew around it on cardboard twice and then drew it on thin layers of sponge. We then made it like a sandwich with a piece of cardboad on the bottom and one piece of thin sponge in the middle and another piece of cardboad on top. Then after that we cut out the heel and then we started to stick it together and finally we put our designs on.

Thornley Woods http://www.gatesheadgrid.org/romanroad/archives/2006/06/thornley_woods.html Mrs.Jones Y5 class went on a trip to Thornley Woods October 2005

We learnt about dangerous poisonous plants and safe plants.
We saw a rabbit scurrying through the woods. We saw a tree that was shaped like a face but it was not carved in to it. We all went on a nature walk by the river. Also we saw some fish and carried out a test. We through an apple into the river to see how fast the river was going. After that we made our way back to have our dinner.

SATs http://www.gatesheadgrid.org/romanroad/archives/2006/02/sats.html As we look forward to, or, rather dread the SATs let's look back at the first term. The children undertook work on jungles. The children loved this topic and looked at temperature differences, animals, artwork, masks, reports and internet research.

As the SATs draw closer we are working hard in Numeracy, Literacy and Science. Please help your child by encouraging them to complete homework, eat breakfast and have a good night sleep. Children are also working on Revisewise on www.bbc.co.uk in school so if you have the internet please encourage your child to log on and do some extra revision in preparation for SATs!

We have lots to look forward to - CAMP and the production of GREASE!!!
