Six players from year 6 six and three players from year 5 made up the Roman Road squad that faced other local schools in the Felling Gateshead SFA Astro competition held at Gateshead Stadium.
Six schools were split into two groups of three with inter group placing matches being used at the end.

We started off against Windy Nook. After lots of chances at both ends, Windy Nook scored a second half goal and won 1-0. Caedmon were next and we didn't play as well losing 4-1. Keith Candlish scored our goal.
This meant we then played in the fifth place play off against St. John's. Despite hitting the bar twice and the post once, Roman Road could not get the vital goal meaning it finished 0-0.
Windy Nook beat South Street 1-0 in the final.

The year 6 Sports Club have started to train for Sportshall Athletics.
Preparations include relays, hurdling and using the bounce mat. New indoor hurdles have been acquired through the voucher schemes and some year 6 children put them to good use as the photos show.
By the time the indoor fetival arrives, it is hoped that we have a good amount of athletes that qualify to represent the cluster in the Borough competition.

Last night, the school team played Falla Park at home in a league match. Even though the pitch conditions were difficult, the team ended the match with an excellent 6-1 win.
Josh Archibald continued his excellent scoring run with another four goals, making his haul ten in the last three matches. The other two were scored by Andrew Oliver whose strength was a problem for the spirited hardworking Falla team all match.
It was pleasing that the team varied the style of play due to the long grass and scored three headed goals as well as being unlucky when a header from Joe Hunter did not properly cross the line.

The Lindisfarne Thursday league is drawing to a close with our school still to play St Augustines, St Albans and Falla Park.
An excellent 7-0 win against Whitemere with goals from Josh Archibald (3), Joe Hunter (2), Jordan McDonald and Liam McDonald kept us in the running for third.
