Roman Road's Talented Artists

As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebrations, Mrs McKeown wanted a mural on the school site. It was to be placed on the side of the boiler house. Last year, Miss Allen asked a few talented artists to design the mural.

This week, they were invited back to use special paints to create the mural. It will be placed on the wall shortly!

We had a competition to design a 50th anniverary plate. One person from every class won!
We also used ceramic pens to design our own tile and cups contining our memories of Roman Road.

Last year, we wrote to soldiers in Afganistan. They sent letters back to each of us and then they came to visit and took part in our 50th Anniversary celebrations! Wow!

A Blast from the Past - 1959 Style

1959%20CLASSROOM0001.jpg

Some things have changed and some haven't !!!! There are some fixtures and fittings around the school buildings that are the original ones from 1959- can you find them ?

The picture above from 1959 shows a shop which was set up in what is now the corridor outside Mrs Jones' room. Look for some of the food and household brands that still exist today. Paxo is one. Can you find anymore ?

Another photograph. This time from the infant buidling. Do you know anyone on it ? Do you have any memories from the school in the past ? If so, please send a comment via the website.

Roman Road at 50 - My Memories

The school is coming up to it's 50th birthday. As part of the celebrations, we are looking for past pupils to tell us about their favourite memories of the school. The easiest way to do this, is to add a comment to this article.

We are looking for responses from ex-pupils including those that have just left and those that have been left for some time !!! We would especially welcome any comments from ex members of staff.
Keep a watch on the site for the comments and also about future events to celebrate Roman Road at 50 !!
