Coats of Arms

As part of the England theme and the topic about castles the children in Mrs Dykes class designed and produced a Coat of Arms to display at the England Showcase.

We researched information about Coats of Arms.
We found out that a Coat of Arms is used to represent a person or group/family and the design is unique to that person/group.
In medievel times knights had a Coat of Arms design on their shields and tunic which covered their armour. This helped to identify them on battlefields from allies and enemies.
Coats of Arms are still used today to represent many institutions.
