The whole school had great fun during Eco week, working in class and with various visitors to school. Year 5 enjoyed making a delicious curry from leftover Sunday dinner with Nick from Cooking 4 Life. They found out lots of fascinating facts from Alan about how much they can help the environment by cycling to school, in stead of travelling in a car. Big-Eyed Ben had his eye on the whole school, but did not catch a single class with lights left on!
We also...
...did a lot of work in class. We set up recycling bins to recycle paper towels, as we felt that a lot of paper gets wasted in this way. Year 5 have taken responsibility for emptying these boxes into the big blue recycling bins. We also researched the threat to polar bears by global warming, and wrote persuasive texts to try to show people the danger that the polar bears are in. We produced some great recycled art work, using only materials which were being thrown away at our homes; and also some posters to remind people how they can help to protect the environment. All in all it was a really busy, and very enjoyable week.
