We have been learning the difference between dissolving and melting in Year 2.
We worked in teams of 3 to try and dissolve various solids. Some dissolved and some did not. Coffee dyed the water brown as it dissolved. We discovered that scientific experiments need to be fair and that materials dissolve quicker if you use warm water. Dylan says "If you dissolve a thing, it is still there, it's just so small you can't see it!"
We dissolved solid jelly in boiling water. It dyed the water. We then cooled it down in the fridge and it turned back into a solid again.
We then had a jelly and ice cream party. The ice - cream melted. It was YUMMY!!!
