Wow!! Year 4 have entered an adult world of risk assessments !!!!!
As part of our work on bridges, we looked at the importance of staying safe during activities in the classroom. Even though risk assessments are normally in the adult domain, the children showed that they could do it as well.
This has involved us writing a class risk assessment for working with saws and other materials during the task of building our drawbridges. The class showed a really good understanding of the importance of being safe and how they could reduce the risk of someone getting hurt.
Well done year four!!

We learnt that if you use saws in an inappropriate way, you could chop your finger off so do not wave saws around or do not do other things that is bad. While you are cutting, keep other people safe by finding a space away from everyone and cut downwards.

Im so impressed - maybe some of year 4 could help on the Health & safety committee with myself and Mrs McKeown! These are invaluable skills which will always come in handy. Well done Y4.

We have learnt about saws and wood in a risk assessment. If you wave things in air you can really hurt someone in the eye.
