Year 4 Out and About in Newcastle and Gateshead

Year 4 had a day out in Newcastle and Gateshead.
The morning session saw us find out alot about Newcastle and Gateshead's bridges by visiting the Discovery Museum. After doing some research in the 'Building Bridges' exhibition, the children undertook a challenge in a workshop.

We had lunch at the museum and then walked through the city centre, pausing to do some observational drawing of the Redheugh bridge.

A walk down to the quayside was followed by crossing the Millennium bridge and arriving in Gateshead. For half the class, it was the first time they had gone from Newcastle to Gateshead in this way. On the Gateshead side, the class did some more drawings and looked at the structure of the bridges.

We hope to use what we've learnt when making our own model bridges.

I really enjoyed going on that wonderful trip to the Musem and quayside. I especially enjoyed doing the sketches of the bridges but i also enjoyed learning about the bridges and looking around the Museum.
