Investigating Structure

As part of of our Creative Curriculum topic called Bridging the Gap, year 4 have been investigating structures. They've even turned themselves into some examples !!

We thought about how structures spread out the weight. By using a base and beanbags added in different ways, we experienced how a bridge's supports (our arms) felt the force of supporting the weight.

In addition to our work in the hall we've also experimented with finding out how we can support as much weight as possible using one sheet of paper. We had a competition in class which everyone took part. Unfortunately the children in year 4 LOST !!!!
