« The Best Book Week Ever! | Main | Totally Terrific Tutankhamun!!!!!! »
This week Year One received a letter from the Head of the Mummy Society in Egypt. They asked our help with making party food for the Annual Mummy Ball.
We worked together with a partner to make some spready cheese sandwiches. We had to think carefully about which time connective to use (first, then, next, finally). We also had to make sure we had included a bossy verb that would tell the mummy chef exactly what to do (spread, put, serve).
Once we had made the sandwiches and talked through each instruction, we used a cutter to make the sandwiches look like mummies. As all good chefs do, we tried our sandwiches and they were delicious.
The next day we wrote detailed instructions to the mummies on how to make our fabulous sandwiches. Our writing was superb and we remembered all of the connectives and bossy verbs.
We have sent our instructions in a book to the Head Chef of the Mummy Ball and we are waiting to hear how they liked them. Perhaps you too could try making yummy mummy sandwiches at home.
