Animal Kingdom - MSB and Year 3

During the Spring term our topic will be all about animals. We will be investigating and finding out about lots of different types of animals, where they live, how they move and much,much more. Do you have a favourite animal?

Science
- Why do some living things need protection?
- How can we group animals?
- What do animals eat?
- Look at life cycles of butterflies and frogs.
- Build an ant farm to observe over time.

Geography
- Where do animals live?
- Does the climate affect where certain animals live?
- Develop map skills.

Art
- Colour mixing to create patterns and colour tones for jungle and desert habitats.
- Create own animals using different mediums eg. paper mache, clay.

Design and Technology
- Design and make a moving insect.
- Design and make an animal puppet.


Literacy
- Non chronological reports
- Instructions.
- Fact finding
- Animal stories.
- Record life cycles through a story board.
- Dictionary work.

Music
- Listen to music that describes animals.
- Sing animal songs.
- Create sounds for animals using a range of instruments.

French
- Learn animal words.
