At 3.35pm today, torrential rain caused flooding up to 3 inches in places through the office and the Key Stage Two hall.
Damage to the meeting room, the MSB and the lower classrooms was prevented by the excellent efforts of nearly forty people.
As well as teaching staff and assistants, there were office staff, cleaners, the caretaker, school helpers, children, school experience students and Gateshead MBC officers who all helped to stop the water and rescue equipment.
A group of parents also stayed back to help and were responsible for sweeping out water and saving alot of the costumes that are needed for the Oliver production.
Everyone at school is extremely grateful for the help in a situation which could have been much worse.
SCHOOL IS OPEN AS NORMAL ON THURSDAY. However all children will be required to keep out of the Key Stage 2 hall. Dinners will be served in other parts of the school.
The year 4 class assembly has been postponed until Friday 10th July. Oliver rehersals will take place in the Key Stage 1 hall. It is hoped that the stage and wiring for the show can be put back in place on Friday.

The flood was so funny seeing all the staff in the junior hall running around trying to keep the water out. We were supposed to be doing skipping but when we ran in the hall and the water was coming, I said to Taylor well were not doing skipping tonight then.
