Model cars

After making picture frames the children were looking forward to the next activity which was going to be to make a model car. The first part was to cut a small block of wood using a saw and mortice block. The corners were then sawed off to make a "car shape", then sanded to make it smooth. Holes had to be drilled for the car axles. For this the children had to work with a partner cooperatively and be patient and helpful. They then had to saw a wooden dowel to the correct size for the axles and saw a cork into 4 circles for the wheels. The parts could all then be painted and fitted together when dry. Some of the children showed their models in the celebration assembly on Friday.
