Year One visited St.Andrews Church yesterday to baptise their baby doll.
We had fantastic weather to walk to church yesterday. Mrs Inkster, Mrs cairns and Mrs Miller helped Year One celebrate the baptism of their baby doll Beth Ella. Year one have been learning all about new beginnings and belonging to the Christian church.
We watched a video of a baptism but we wanted to experience the real thing. Father Alan was kind enough to book us in for the real thing.
We chose our own vicar who was lucky enough to be dressed up for the occasion.
We all made promises to look after the baby and the parents and godparents went to the front of the church to make their promises to God.
The sign of the cross was made on Beth Ell’s head using some oil.
We then went to the back of the church where the font was located.
Father Alan showed us how to change Leam Lane tap water into holy water, by blessing it and making a cross in the water. A shell was then used to baptise the baby because a shell was used to baptise Jesus in the river Jordan. And so Beth Ella was given her name.
We then went back to the front of the church, where Ella’s parents were presented with a lighted candle from the vicar.
Then it was time for family and friends to have their photos taken with the special baby girl. First were the Godparents.
Next the doting Grandparents.
And finally the rest of the family who attended the special celebrations.
We said thank you to Father Alan and Mrs Inkster was able to press the button to ring the church bells. It was then back to school where we continued the celebrations with a party and enjoyed a lovely piece of christening cake.
Check out all of the photos from our visit in the gallery, Year One file.

I really like Father Alan. I felt good at being the baby's Dad. This was my best trip.
