Summer Topics in Year One
Please take a look at what Year One wil be covering over Summer Term 1.

Science - Forces
We will be lookng at pushes and pulls. If the children have any clockwork or wind up
toys that could be brought into school this would be greatly apprecated.
ICT- Control Technology
Using Roaer and Bee Bot to input information to make it move.
P.E. Gymnastics
Using floor work, small and large apparatus to perform basic actions, different shapes,
taking off, jumping and landing, balancing on our hands and feet.
Geography - Where in the world is Barnaby bear?
Exploring different countries, methods of transport and weather
R.E.- Why is the Bible so important to Christians?
Exploring things that are precious to us and others. Knowing how the Bible is in two
parts. Reading and discusing different stories from the Bible.
PSHE - Looking at some of the feelings associated with close
relationships, particularaly in the family and with friends. Children will think about
feelings of hurt in themselves and others, and how to manage these feelings.
Music - Exploring instruments and symbols that can be used for musical notation.
Design and Technology - Food Hygiene, making and eating healthy snacks. How does food
change when it is cooked or other ingredients are added?
Role - Play Area - we will be making an aiport, travel agents and bureau de change, linked with our topic of holidays and travel. If you have any photos of the children on holiday we would appreciate being able to add them to our Class Holiday Album.
