Multiplying and Dividing in Year 2
We have recently been looking at multiplication, division and fractions, in maths.
Starting in last half term with Miss Allen, and continuing with Mr Ball, we have done a lot of work on multiplication and division. Using blocks and white boards to help us, we were able to calculate problems like, 2 x 12 = and 12 / 2 = . We were then relating them to doubling and halving, using the 2 times table. Fractions were a bit more difficult to do, we started with finding 1/2 and 1/4 of shapes, which was ok, but finding 1/2 and 1/4 of numbers proved a little more difficult until we realised it was like dividing by 2 or 4.
