Tens and Ones

twelve.JPG

Today we have been using some exciting equipment to help us count in tens and ones.

We have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones. First we thought about how many tens there were and then how many ones. This means that twelve has 1 ten and 2 ones. Then we used base equipment to show the correct amount.

It was tricky at first because we all kept saying we didn't have enough ones. Thankfully Shannon knew how to do it and she showed us how to work it out. After that we were great and could even partition 59 and then show it with our base.

We are really trying hard in Year One.
