« Year 2 Numeracy - money problems | Main | A Baptism in Year 1 »
This year in Key Stage One, each class has a special visitor called Fred. Fred has come to help with our reading. Unfortunately Fred can only speak in sounds and so it is the children's job to help him understand by saying the words. For example Fred may say c-a-t and the children say cat. This is helping the chidlren to blend words from the sounds they are learning. When reading at home with your child you can ask them to Fred talk the word and then say the word if they are stuck. Remember the more you practise reading the easier it gets!
Photos of Year 1 Fred are to follow.
