What is Artsmark?

Artsmark is a national award scheme, managed by Arts Council England that recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts. The scheme helps develop an understanding of the arts in the broadest sense.

Artsmark provides a benchmark for arts opportunities in schools so that young people have access to a wide range of experiences in art, dance, drama and music and this encourages schools to adopt a broad and balanced curriculum. The award is available to all schools in England.

Many of the events over the past term and to follow, are to ensure our success as a school. We aim to provide new and extensive arts experiences for the children at Roman Road. Currently Mrs Barnes and Mrs Inkster are working really hard preparing all of the vast information that is required to apply for Artsmark. The closing date is in November and the we will have to await eagerly to see if we have been successful in achieving an award.
