Year 4 Celebrate Thanksgiving Day

Year 4 have spent the afternoon learning about Thanksgiving Day as part of their American topic. They had a go at different activities to find out what is done in the USA to celebrate the festival.
Thanksgiving is a three day holiday that starts on the fourth Thursday of November. Americans celebrate it to give thanks for the harvest and other events. The tradition was first celebrated in 1621 when travelling pilgrims were saved by the indians.
Every year, Maceys Department Store hold a thanksgiving parade. Year 4 watched a live webcam feed of the event. The picture above is from today's parade in New York City.
